February 17th 2024. A narrow defeat for the U10 Boys.

The U10 Boys faced Erdington this morning with a somewhat depleted side and as a result Josh Ruby and Harry Gillett dropped back into defence where they acquitted themselves really well in an unfamiliar position. Not for the first time this season the team as a whole started rather slowly, however, and the first half was rather lacklustre from our point of view and our passing wasn’t at the normal level. We were also second to the ball on far too many occasions but even so the game was still evenly balanced until the deadlock was broken after 20 minutes when a well placed lob went over Toby Hughes' head gave our opponents the lead. Before we had time to regroup Erdington scored a second and as a result we went into the break facing a 2-0 deficit. To be fair our second half performance was much better and Nolan, Zach and Jaxon all had good chances only for the Erdington keeper to save our best attempts until we eventually pulled a goal back through an excellent strike from Harry Gillett that gave him no chance. Towards the end of the game the lads pushed forward in a desperate attempt to snatch a draw but on this occasion we were unable to find an equaliser.
