February 3rd 2024. How did the U10 Boys lose this game?

The U10 Boys up and down season continued this morning with an unbelievable 2-1 defeat to Aston and even the opposition manager came over at the end of the match to point out that he couldn't understand how his team had won. We gave debuts to two new players and with a squad of 14 players to choose from we certainly had options but not for the first time this season we started slowly and struggled to get our passing game going. Indeed, the first time we actually put a move together we scored and it is frustrating we don't do this more often.Zach showed how it should be done by using his pace to drive down the wing and his pin point cross was gleefully tapped into the net by Jaxon who so far had been feeding off scraps. Nevertheless

Wolverhampton had total control and would probably have gone on to win easily if Ben's effort had not been disallowed for reasons known only to the referee.

We made substitutions at the break which possibly disrupted our shape initially but despite Aston scoring an equaliser we still had plenty of the ball without creating a clear scoring opportunity. Aston's defence threw themselves at every shot and defied logic by blocking everything we threw at them and from one of our corners they broke away and scored a second goal. Even then we had our chances and looked to have saved our blushes when yet another of our attacks resulted in us being awarded a penalty. A penalty kick which was promptly driven over the bar.!! Disappointed, but we move on to the next game.

Squad: Ben Johnson , Jaxon Boulton, Nolan,Toby Hughes, R’khi Price, Ishmael Price, Harry Gillett,

Ayomide Ogundairo, Logan , Lucas Dickens, Ceasar Robertson, Zachary Myers, Harry Bradley, Josh Ruby.
