March 2nd 2024. U10 Boys great fightback is all in vain.

Zach caused problems for the opposition defenders and shot wide early on but generally the lads made a sluggish start to the match and in a first half of few chances Aston just about deserved their 1-0 lead.We came out more determined after the break, however, and Zach went close to equalising before Aston took advantage of our poor defending to score three more times.Their first attempt crept into the corner of our net but Toby Hughes had no chance with the next two Aston goals that flew past him and he was becoming increasingly more frustrated by the lack of cover he was being given.Offensively we were still creating chances though and Jaxon had a great effort that hit the Aston crossbar. Trailing 4-0, we certainly looked dead and buried but conceding that 4th goal somehow seemed to spark a massive reaction from the Wolverhampton players that hadn't been their before, and once Zach had scored the goal his strong running deserved we began to play our best football. Jaxon also began to show how menacing he can be when running at defenders and after one of his efforts on goal was saved, Ishmael followed up to further raise our hopes. At this point Wolverhampton were well on top and with time running out, Harry Gillett won the ball in midfield and fed Jaxon who scored with a great finish off the far post to bring us to the verge of a miraculous comeback. Jaxon even saw another great effort crash against the crossbar with the last kick of the match but it was not to be. There is no doubt that Wolverhampton have some good players in this age group and on our second half showing we should surely be winning more games.
