March 9th 2024. A mixed morning for the U11 Boys' team.

Wolverhampton were without several influential players this weekend for the County 6 a side competition but the remaining lads all rose to the challenge in our qualifying group which also consisted of Aston and Sutton Coldfield. The first game against Sutton was end to end with each team seemingly taking it in turn to have scoring opportunities and we were unlucky to come out the wrong side of a 7 goal spectacular with Evan, Claudiu and Joel scoring our three goals. In between this and our next group game we played a friendly against the eventual losing finalists, North Shropshire, and drew 1-1 after Armandas had put us into the lead following a shot that rocketed into the top corner of the net. The final group game was therefore crucial to our chances of progressing to the next round but once again we just fell short against a very strong, Aston team despite the lads working so hard to get a positive result. Our opponents just about deserved their 1-0 victory and as a result we found ourselves in the knockout phase of the Vase competition where we were pitted against Kings Norton. We started brightly once again and took the lead in this Quarter Final tie through the impressive Armandas, who was obviously relishing the opportunity to play out of goal this week, only to be pegged back by our opponents who took the game to penalties. With a semi final place at stake it was amazing that both sets of players were able to put their shots away with such accuracy but after Charlie, Armandas, Kai, Joel, Evan and Claudiu had all scored, our SEVENTH penalty was saved and we were sadly out of the competition.

Squad :Lucas Durnall, Charlie Durnall, Armandas Jolke, Evan Lawrence, Joel Badu, Kai Cole, Claudiu Flore.
