South

Birmingham 3-7 Wolves

Team: Callum, Rohi, Ollie, Joe, Max, Elliot, Lewis, Charlie, Kyle, Harvey, Beau

Goalscorers: Max x2, Elliot x3, Kyle, Lewis

We started slowly in our first game since coming back from lockdown. Some of our boys hadn’t seen each other for 8 months so it was inevitable that there would be a few struggles at the start. We defended resiliently until we found our way in the South Birmingham half. Elliot played the ball to Rohi, who struck a powerful shot at the goalkeeper. He could only parry and the ball landed to Max who slotted the ball home. It was quickly 2-0 when Elliot passed to Kyle, who again forced the goalkeeper to spill a powerful shot and again, Max was there to score.

South Birmingham then got a free kick on the edge of our box and directly from the kick, halved the deficit. A very good goal.

However, the scoring wasn’t done there when Elliot scored two excellent solo goals (the second being a particularly clever flick) to make the score 4-1 to Wolves at half time.

We were very much on the back foot as it restarted and we gave away a penalty, which South converted. They then scored a third to make us take note and start to grab the initiative back. Elliot swiftly completed his hattrick with another terrific finish. We weren’t done there. A corner from Rohi was about to be headed into the goal from Kyle when the goalkeeper came to punch the ball but fouled Kyle in the process. He dusted himself off and scored the penalty to make it 6-3. We scored a 7th when Lewis hit a shot from distance, which the goalkeeper spilled into the net. A fantastic performance, showing good character to gain control back when the game was in the balance at 4-3. Well done boys!
