Telford 5-5 Wolverhampton

Team: Zak, Ronnie, Caleb, Reuben, Henoc, Charlie, Isaac G, Isaac P, Cohen, Tyler, Dontae, Raj, Rufus

A very exciting and close game against Telford (as usual) was next for the Under 11s at Madeley Ski Centre. We had a different look to the team that played Gloucester but all the players that came in did an excellent job, with two debutants, Raj (who is fit after his injury) and Rufus.

Unfortunately, Zak aggravated a previous knee injury in the warm up, then Telford managed to get a goal right at the beginning of the game. The ball was played through to the Telford striker, who put a challenge in on the already struggling Zak, perhaps a foul. The referee played on, despite our goalkeeper being down on the floor and Telford slotted into an empty net to make it 1-0. We equalised when some great work down the right hand side from Tyler, allowed Henoc to smash the ball past the Telford keeper to make it 1-1.

Telford scored two quick goals on the break, when we couldn’t find an answer for the long ball outside to inside and the pace of the Telford attack was a worry. Half time 3-1.

Telford then quickly scored a fourth goal and we faced an uphill battle, made more so by Zak having to be taken to hospital at half time, which left us without a goalkeeper for the second half. Both Isaac’s volunteered admirably to share the duties in the second half and did remarkably well.

We got back into it when Ronnie struck a free kick from the edge of the box that the Telford ‘keeper fumbled in. Raj scores the next two goals to draw us level at 4-4. By this point, it was anyone’s game. Unfortunately, Telford weathered the storm to score a fifth, meaning we had to come back from behind again. That said, a fantastic solo effort from Henoc meant the game finished 5-5. A great spectacle for the neutral.
