The Primary lads fielded two teams on Friday afternoon against a powerful Leeds outfit who were making their annual half term tour of The West Midlands and due to the unavailability of a number of players six of our U10 lads were called up to this morning's squad. Both our Gold and Orange teams made excellent starts but we failed to sustain our pressure in heavy conditions and ultimately the greater experience and physicality of the Leeds players took their toll. The Gold team, with Rome Taylor again looking impressive, came the closest to getting a positive result and probably deserved more than a 6-4 defeat. Indeed they led 4-3 at one time with a brace from Jami Awusu and fine strikes from Edward Harris and Bodhi Shields before a late collapse proved costly. On the other pitch the Orange team, made up predominantly of U10 players, stunned the visitors by taking a 2-0 lead through Billy Kerchad and man of the match Abraham Young but again it was not to be although an eventual 6-2 scoreline was a little harsh.
Congratulations to the 8 boys from Wolverhampton Secondary Schools who were selected for the West Midlands County Schools FA Under 14 squad on Saturday. They started with a win as well! Well done Harvey, Tyrese, George, Rhys, Myles, Tayo, Alex, and Kaiden. You did us proud!
