Saturday 7th December
Still very quiet on the Secondary front but the younger lads more than made up for it and even played a game under lights.
The U11's began their week on a cold December Monday night on the 4G at Bescot Stadium and ran the Walsall Academy outfit close but we looked a little tired towards the end and our mistakes ultimately contributed to a 7-5 defeat. We certainly edged it in quality and hard work and a brace from Alfie Round and fine goals from Kylan, Jami, and man of the match Harry Jones kept us in contention until the very end.
Saturday's defeat was more disappointing, however, and we were drawn into the opposition's kick and rush football. Liam Guy gave us an early lead bur after going 3-1 down we were always chasing the game. We were forced to make changes in defence due to some players being unavailable and Telford & Wrekin must have thought Christmas had come early as we gifted them all 4 goals in a 4-3 defeat. Josh reduced the score to 3-2 at one stage and Japhet scored late on to cause jitters in our opponents defence near the end, but we couldn't snatch a late equalizer which we probably deserved.
The U10's travelled to play Erdington & Saltley on Saturday morning and once again lady luck deserted us. We played well, and Rohi scored a fine goal when he got on the end of a corner and finished sweetly with his left foot, but the hosts scored with their only two shots on target to grab a fortunate 2-1 victory.
