October 10th 2026. Disappointment for u11 Boys.

The Wolverhampton Schools u11 representative team experienced a difficult afternoon in their latest inter-district fixtures, suffering defeats against North Shropshire and Erdington. These two results were disappointing, but representative football is also about learning, developing and understanding what is required to compete against other district teams.

After losing our opening game 7-1 to North Shropshire there was obviously plenty for the boys to reflect upon but the message from team manager Jazz was clear. Every player has an individual responsibility to arrive prepared, demonstrate the right attitude, work hard and give their very best for the team.

The quality of the opposition certainly played its part, but the result also highlighted the importance of matching opponents in terms of work rate, commitment and determination and we responded positively in our second match and showed our real character in a much improved performance.

Despite experiencing a 4-2 defeat we could see signs in this match that the lads are learning lessons and Jaxx, demonstrated just the right attitude and determination required at representative level by dragging us back level when his superb individual strike and an own goal saw us fight back after falling two goals behind.

His work rate, determination and reaction to the earlier disappointment were particularly impressive and he continued to work hard for the team and set a positive example for his teammates to follow. The team responded to his example and continued to battle despite Erdington adding two further goals to push the result beyond our control.

Football will always bring difficult afternoons, and how players respond to those challenges is an important part of their development. The expectation is not that every game will be won, but that every player gives everything they can, supports their teammates and takes pride in representing Wolverhampton Schools.
