September 12th 2026. u11 Boys back in action.

The u11 Boys were in tournament action this morning and began with an excellent 2-1 victory over Sutton Coldfield.After falling behind, the team showed great character to respond and turn the game around. Theo scored both goals, with Malachi providing some excellent assists.The players worked hard for each other and showed some really good attacking football.

The momentum was broken ,however, in our second game when we were beaten 3-1 by Kings Norton although the scoreline fails to reflect how well we played.Indeed, we even took the lead and looked comfortable for long periods, only to be punished as a result of taking far too many unnecessary risks when playing out from the back.This should be an important learning experience for the team, for there is a time to play and a time to sit back and manage the game.

Aston A were by far the best team we faced all morning and they made life very difficult for us. We struggled to get out of our own half for long periods and lost too many of our individual battles. Positionally, we were also caught out on a number of occasions, which allowed the opposition to create opportunities at will. Although the result was disappointing, these are exactly the games that help young players learn. They experienced what it is like to play against a very strong team and will take plenty from the challenge.

It was nice to end the tournament with a win and we were good value for our 2-0 victory over Aston B. We started on the back foot and had to work hard defensively, but gradually grew into the game and finally took the lead halfway through the match through Theo. Theo then produced another good finish off another positive attacking performance.For once we took the chances when they came our way. Keep it up lads!

Overall, two wins and two defeats was a very positive return from the morning, particularly considering this was the first football of the season and several players were making their Wolverhampton Schools debuts.The players showed enthusiasm, worked hard for one another, and produced some excellent attacking football at times but there are plenty of things for us to work on as the season progresses. Points to be addressed include positioning, individual defending, and decision-making when playing out from the back.Learn when to take risks and when to keep things simple.

Most importantly, the players should be proud of themselves. For those making their first appearance in the famous Wolverhampton Schools shirt, it was a morning they will hopefully remember for a long time. A great start to the season. Well done everyone!
