A really useful morning of football for our Wolverhampton U10s with games against Erdington

B and East Birmingham. The first game was difficult and we were slow to get going against an Erdington side who were bright and busy from the start, hitting both the post and crossbar in the early stages.Their tricky players caused us problems and Jack, Ethan and George were under pressure whenever they received the ball and we were unable to build any real momentum. Nevertheless, we restricted them to a single goal margin of victory after making a few tweaks and substitutions and competed much better in the later stages of the match.

The second game against East Birmingham was a completely different story as the players had clearly learned lessons from their first match. We came out much quicker, with far more energy and confidence and once Jack's goal had given us a perfect start we never looked back. We began to play some excellent attacking football and simply tore the opposition apart with Jack and George both completing hat-tricks. Tommi scored the other and the 7-0 margin of victory in no way flattered us.

Jacob Navratil wasn't on the score sheet but he deservedly picked up the Man of the Match award after giving an excellent performance throughout the morning.The biggest positive from the morning wasn’t just the result but the way that the players responded after a difficult first game. They listened, adapted and showed they are willing to learn from their mistakes. That's

exactly what these representative games are all about: learning, improving and giving the players the opportunity to develop.
