December 3rd 2025. u14 Girls back in action.

The Under 14 girl entertained Rotherham under the floodlights at AFC Wolverhampton and delivered a performance full of quality, commitment, and growing confidence, against the current league leaders. The game was tight from the outset, with chances at a premium for both teams and Wolverhampton worked hard to play through the thirds but it soon became apparent that the first goal would be crucial and unfortunately it went the way of Rotherham midway though the first half when one of their forwards was able to force the ball over the line as she charged down Poppy's attempted clearance.

Wolverhampton responded well without really carving out any clear cut opportunities although Georgia produced our best moment of the half when she drove down the right, eluded her marker, and unleashed a powerful effort that drew an excellent save from the visiting keeper. Neither side seemed to be building any sort of momentum ,however, and with just a single goal separating the two sides we were still firmly in contention until our opponents struck a decisive second goal just before the interval when we lost possession in the middle of the pitch allowing one of their players to run through and finish will clinical efficiency.

The second half followed a similar pattern: high work rate, disciplined defending, and very few clear chances at either end. Leja coming closest for Wolverhampton, only to see a promising strike well blocked, but both sides largely cancelled each other out in what became a tactical, hard-fought battle. Rotherham were undoubtedly worthy winners but our girls earned plenty of praise for making this such a close game. Our coaches were clearly delighted with the effort, organisation, and team spirit on show — qualities that continue to grow with every performance. A big thank-you to all those parents and supporters who came out to cheer the team on such a cold midweek evening under the lights. The girls now look forward to taking this momentum and togetherness into their upcoming knockout fixture in the New Year.
