November 7th 2025. u15 Girls fight against the odds.

The Wolverhampton u15 Girls entertained Hyndburn & Ribble in their third National Cup group game still chasing their first win and their cause wasn't helped with a number of players withdrawing on the day due to illness. Despite the disruption we started really brightly, however, and both teams had chances in a scrappy but evenly contested first half which ended 0–0. Indeed it could be said that we created the more clear cut chances before the break with Dhemi, Sarannah, Xienna and Savannah all coming agonisingly close without finding the back of the net.

The first goal was obviously going to be crucial and once it had gone to our opponents early in the second half, they seized the initative and quickly established a three goal advantage which took the game beyond us. We were powerless to respond during this period and would have been blown away completely if it wasn't for Kornelia who handled the wet conditions superbly and pulled out a number of brilliant saves. Unfortunately, Kornelia went off injured late in the second half so we had to finish the game with only 10 players. Esme stepped up to replace her in goal and she also produced heroics to make sure the deficit remained at four goals before we eventually were able to get on the scoresheet just before the final whistle.Lexi Ruby capping things off with an awesome header from a corner. It was a well-deserved goal and despite losing 4-1 the girls certainly deserved something for their battling performance against the odds!

Team: Kornelia, Esme, Remi, Alice, Caitlin, Sarannah, Xienna, Erin, Lexi, Dhemi, Savannah.
