Wolverhampton Schools FA Awards Evening.

Fordhouses Cricket Club – 20th May 2026

The end of Season Presentation Evening took place at Fordhouses Cricket Club on May 20th 2026 and it was all about recognising and celebrating the players who have been selected to represent Wolverhampton schools this season. Representing your city schools is not just about results or winning matches, it is something to be incredibly proud of. It is also about teamwork, attitude, behaviour, reliability, resilience and commitment and our players have certainly shown all of these qualities in abundance throughout the season. The first part of the evening was devoted to the u10 and U11 Boys and girls Primary teams before moving on to our four Secondary girls teams. Every player received a trophy in recognition of their selection and commitment throughout the season and in addition, each team manager presented three special awards.

Wolverhampton Schools FA has a proud history stretching back well over 100 years and traditionally the association was mainly concerned with boys football, but in recent years girls football has grown enormously and now forms the majority of our representative teams. That growth is something we are extremely proud of and this season our Secondary girls fixtures have largely been against national opposition, as there is so little competition at district level within the Midland area. This is not uniform throughout the country and we are at a distinct disadvantage when competing against those teams which have a stronger football structure behind them. We remain hopeful that the introduction of a local Girls Under 12 district league next season will go some way to closing the gap.

There were also some players who were given a special mention for creating a little piece of Wolverhampton Schools FA history. Jess Pullan and Phoebe Moss have both been selected for the English Schools National Squad, as well as representing West Midlands County, whilst one of our former players , Sareet Binning, has recently become the first Asian captain of an England team. Sareet was part of our very first Girls Under 12 representative side, and we are incredibly proud of what she has gone on to achieve.

A massive thank you was given to the parents and families who have supported us this season from travelling to matches and training and for encouraging our players every step of the way because without this level of comitment we simply couldn't operate. Finally, we musn't forget the time, energy and commitment that our managers have given throughout the season and for that we are extremely grateful. Their work has provided these players with fantastic opportunities and experiences and I'm sure that they are very much appreciated.
