January 13th 2024. The U12 Boys cup run is over.

The U12 Boys travelled to Knowsley St.Helens to face a side who had finished 5th in Group C and the home side couldn't have been full of confidence having already lost to Manchester, Rotherham, Sefton and Stockport this season but we gave them the boost they needed after conceding two early goals and from that point onwards it was an uphill task for us to get back into the match. Neverthess there was little between the two sides before the break with neither team getting a real foothold in the game and after making a positive start to the second half we were certainly in the ascendancy. Indeed we created a number of excellent chances and but for some good saves from the St. Helens keeper we would surely have scored. If we had done so when we were on top who knows what could have happened but despite the efforts of the boys it was not to be and as we pushed more and more players forward it was inevitable that we would leave ourselves exposed at the back. We eventually went down to a 5-0 defeat which was a little hard to take as it was hardly a true reflection of the gap between the two sides.
