Wolverhampton Schools FA can look back on another hugely successful season of secondary school football across the city. There have been 12 divisions across Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and Post-16, with schools involved from across Wolverhampton competed in a comprehensive programme of inter-school football. These leagues provided opportunities for hundreds of young people to represent their schools, compete regularly and enjoy the unique experience of playing competitive football against other schools from across the city. After more than 125 league matches were completed the following winners emerged.
Year 7: Division 1: Heath Park, Division 2: Coppice, Division 3: St Matthias
Year 8: Division 1: Heath Park, Division 2: Coppice, Division 3: OSWB.
Year 9: Division 1: St Chads, Division 2: ONEWA, Division 3: Moseley Park.
Year 10: Division 1: Heath Park, Division 2: OSWBA, Division 3: St Matthias.
Post 16: Division 1: St. Peters, Division 2: OSWBA.
The city has also continued to provide opportunities for talented players to progress through representative schools football and during the past 12 months, a number of Wolverhampton schools and players have enjoyed success in West Midlands County Schools FA competitions, representing their schools and the city at county level. This pathway is undoubtedly one of the great strengths of schools football because players can enjoy representing their school, compete for their district and county, and continue to develop alongside their club, academy or grassroots football.
Schools football isn’t just about league tables and trophies, however, for it also provides young people with the opportunity to represent their school, play regular competitive football, develop friendships and teamwork, experience winning and losing together and develop confidence and resilience. Every match played represents an opportunity for young people to be active, to compete and to enjoy playing the game.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2026–27 season. Congratulations to all of our champions, all of our participating schools and, most importantly, all of the players who have made this another fantastic year for schools football in Wolverhampton. The continued success of the Wolverhampton Schools FA football programme would not be possible without the commitment of the schools, teachers, school staff, volunteer organisers, referees and everyone else who helps make the competitions happen and we must give a special thank you to Conor Alderman, who has coordinated the secondary school leagues throughout the season.
