June 2026. A great win for The Bridge Centre.

Wewll done to The Bridge Centre football team from Aldersley high school Wolverhampton who enjoyed a historic week of representative football and were eventually crowned Midlands SEMH Cup glory at St. George's Park.two high-stakes fixtures at elite venues after reaching the final with a spirited 3-2 semi final over Queensway from Telford at the Wolves  Training Ground in Compton Park.

This game was a close and end to end thriller played in blazing sunshine but it didn't start in the way in which we had hoped when Queensway took an early 1–0 lead.Undeterred, the side rallied strongly and turned the game on its head ,however. Jack Swatman levelled, after Elvis Onweazu showed dogged persistence to win the ball and create the opportunity. Jack then gave us the lead after our high pressing football began to pay off and he certainly deserved his man of the match award, alongside Reece Blick, who was an awesome captain! The match remained highly competitive and physical throughout but once Reece Blick had scored that crucial third goal in the last quarter Wolverhampton saw out the game despite the Telford team pulling a goal back late on.

Three days later The bridge Centre team returned to action once gain and this time they faced a side representing The City of Birmingham Schools on The David Beckham Pitch at St. George's Park. This was a daunting task because COBS thad beaten them 6–1 earlier in the season, resulting in their only loss, as they finished second in SEMH league, division one.Against the backdrop of bright sunshine, the Wolverhampton team delivered a magnificent performance however, and one can only sit back and admire the relentless effort, skill, resilience and tenacity which they exhinbited to acheve this 4-0 incredible victory.

The whole team played well with Arinze Obika providing a tough, dependable  and aggressively forward pressing presence in defence, providing a joint man of the match performance.

Jack Swatman gave another man of the match performance in running the midfield but this was only made possible possible because Alfie Swatman and Kian Kimberley were excellent in defence and our wingers Dakari Harvey and Teo McIntosh were so effective in creating chances. Indeed on the day the whole team played so well that it was almost impoosible to single anyone out.with Arinze Obika providing a tough, dependable  and aggressively forward pressing presence in defence, providing a joint man of the match performance.

Chances flowed freely throughout the high-tempo contest, and the breakthroughs came in style- Jack Swatman struck twice, with further goals from Dylan Watkins - a 20 yard screamer that hit the stantion right in the top corner-  and Aaron Usunobun deservedly sealing a commanding 4–0 victory with a clam and composed finish –The bridge produced a complete turnaround from their earlier meeting.

Elvis Onweazu again produced a range of assists, creating the most assists across 2 games.

The whole team performed fantastically and I could easily highlight every player - every player echoed performances similar to the performance from England Vs Mexico-  it was a real true team effort. We are so proud!

The squad represented the city of Wolverhamptons SEMH schools fantastically and  wore their Wolverhampton colours with immense pride as captain Reece blick  lifted the trophy, confirmed as Midlands SEMH Cup Winners- for the second year running!

Thanks again to Sam Wilde for organising this 3 division league across the midlands and to both Queensway from Telford and COBS from Birmingham - 2 excellent competitive games!

The Bridge Centre football team from Aldersley high school Wolverhampton enjoyed a historic week of representative football, securing both semi-final victory and eventual Midlands SEMH Cup glory across two high-stakes fixtures at elite venues.

SEMI-FINAL: the bridge centre, Wolverhampton  3–2 Queensway, Telford

Venue: Wolves  Training Ground, Compton park

Played in blazing sunshine, this SEMH Cup semi-final was an end-to-end thriller from the first whistle. Wolverhampton however made a slow start, falling behind early in the opening quarter as Queensway took a 1–0 lead.

Undeterred, the side rallied strongly to turn the game on its head. Jack Swapman levelled, forcing the ball into the net after Elvis Onweazu doggedly won the ball back and assisted excellently.

Jack Swatman also gave us the lead after some high pressing football. Pressure paid off!

Jack earned his man of the match award, alongside Reece Blick, our awesome captain!

The match was highly competitive and it proved to be a very physical encounter from both teams.

Reece Blick scored a crucial goal in the last quarter to put Wolverhampton in control, and they held firm to secure a 3–2 win and progress to the final, which was only 3 days away!

FINAL: Wolverhampton 4–0 City of Birmingham Schools

Venue: St George’s Park – The David Beckham Pitch

Just days later on Friday, Wolverhamptons The bridge Centre returned to action at the home of English football’s national centre, facing a city of Birmingham side (COBS) that had beaten them 6–1 earlier in the season, resulting in their only loss as they finished second in SEMH league, division one.

Against the backdrop of bright sunshine, the Wolverhampton team delivered a performance defined by relentless effort, skill, resilience and tenacity. Every player pressed with purpose, marked diligently, defended solidly and refused to yield for a moment.

The whole team played well with Arinze Obika providing a tough, dependable  and aggressively forward pressing presence in defence, providing a joint man of the match performance.

Jack Swatman was our other man of the match, running the midfield in the centre and standing out.

Alfie Swatman and  Kian  Kimberley were also excellent in defence supported by a fantastic defensive and offensive squad performance.

Chances flowed freely throughout the high-tempo contest, and the breakthroughs came in style: Jack Swapman struck twice, with further goals from Dylan Watkins - a 20 yard screamer-  and Aaron Osunobun deservedly sealing a commanding 4–0 victory – a complete turnaround from their earlier meeting.

Elvis Onweazu again produced at least one assist, creating the most assists across 2 games.

The whole team performed fantastically and I could easily highlight every player - it was a real true team effort. We are so proud!
