January 24th 2026. u10 Boys in semi-final action.

Wolverhampton Schools Under 10s bowed out of the cup at the semi-final stage after a hard-fought defeat to Erdington Schools, in a match that showcased effort, resilience, and promising performances from a much-changed side containing four new players making their competitive debut. The first half was evenly contested, with both sides creating chances until we needlessly conceded two goals and the team never really recovered from this early setback. The lads eventually lost 5-3 but they displayed real character throughout and continued to push forward at every opportunity. Chances came and went, and at the end of the days our inability to convert them proved to be our undoing, but the three goals we did score were pretty special.

Sehaj Johal was on the scoresheet twice for Wolverhampton. His first goal came via a superb long-range strike, whilst his second was such a composed close-range finish that came as a result of following up a powerful shot from player of the match Cairan, whose performance in driving the team constantly forward from midfield was truly inspiring. Our third from Jaxxon was also a really well-taken finish, and it did keep the contest alive for a small time and rewarded our attacking intent, but as the second half wore on we were looking extremely weary. This was hardly surprising as frequent substitutions had disrupted our rhythm and Erdington began to overrun us in key areas and added to their goal tally.

Despite the 5–3 defeat, the performance was full of positives, particularly from the debutants who gained valuable experience on such a big occasion. The effort, teamwork, and attacking intent shown by the squad will provide a strong foundation as they continue to develop.

Squad: Stefan, Jaxxon, Cairan, Arjan, Mohammed, Rocco, Aaran Bains, Leo Evans (Warstones), Bertie Dixon (Wolverhampton Grammar), Lucas Ensell (Rakegate), Sehaj Johal (D'Eyncourt).
