Wolverhampton Under 10 Boys, faced their toughest test of the season against a strong and well-organised Erdington side and began the game brightly. This was exactly the confident start we wanted and by winning our tackles and pressing well we were certainly looking dangerous going forward in the opening minutes but a long ball over the top led to Erdington taking the lead and in the blink of an eye the whole momentum of the game changed. In a mad ten minute spell we conceded four goals as our opponents exposed our defensive fragility but to be fair two of their strikes were superb long-range efforts which were simply unstoppable.
6-0 down at the break the Wolverhampton lads could have been forgiven for throwing in the towel but to their great credit their heads never dropped.and the team showed their true character in the scond half. They came out with renewed energy and focus, keeping the ball better, defending more compactly, and tracking runners effectively and addressed many of their first half errors.. A great sign of learning and resilience. Despte being able to find that elusive goal the lads competed strongly, matched Erdington for effort, and ended the game the stronger side. Not the result we wanted but the way that the lads reacted in the face of adversity augers well for the future and shows that they possess maturity well beyond their years.
Squad: Stefan, Austin, George, Jaxxon, Rocco, Mohammed, Arjan, Jett, Kareem, Alessandro.
