December 30th 2025.u11 girls last game of the year.

Wolverhampton knew they were in for a real challenge, facing a strong Stafford side including several players registered with professional clubs including Aston Villa but the game began evenly, with chances created at both ends of the pitch. Sienna Johnson tested the Stafford goalkeeper early on and at the other end, Eva Biddulph, making her debut for Wolverhampton Schools, looked confident from the start — pulling off a string of impressive and intelligent saves to keep her team firmly in the contest. After 16 minutes, Stafford broke the deadlock, however, with a close-range finish but the Wolverhampton girls responded well, with Willow and Sienna Johnson both coming close to grabbing an equaliser during a frantic goalmouth scramble before our persistence was finally rewarded after 30 minutes. Willow playing a clever pass into Sienna who calmly struck the ball with her left foot past the outstretched goalkeeper to make it 1–1 and that brilliant opportunist moment ensured that both teams ended the half level.

The second half saw Wolverhampton dig deep and compete fiercely to such an extent that we took the lead when goalkeeper Eva's long kick forward, sent Willow clear down the right and her inch perfect cross from the by-line was driven home with power and conviction by Mila. The goal set up an exciting finish as both teams created numerous opportunities when the game began to open up. Mila was really impressive down the left, linking superbly with Sienna, but time and time again the Stafford goalkeeper stood strong to deny us and in the final moments Stafford not only found an equaliser, but even grabbed a winner with the last kick of the game, when their captain scored from a tight angle. A disappointing way to lose but this was a thoroughly enjoyable and highly competitive match, full of effort, teamwork and a host of really impressive individual performances.

Both teams should be incredibly proud, and as for the Wolverhampton girls, well we could wax lyrical about ALL of them. There are four in particular, however, who we think deserve a special mention on the day starting with our two debutants. Eva Biddulph for catching the eye in goal with her smart saves, confident handling and excellent distribution and Sienna Smith for her impressive all round performance. Both admirably supported of course by our captain Olivia who led the team with maturity, effort and determination throughout and our tireless runner Willow who never allowed the oppsition to relax for a single minute whilst also providing a brilliant assist.
