With three wins, and a last gasp draw this evening, the girls sit top of the Summer league at what is effectively half time in the competition.Without our goalkeeper Bella Wooley, who was out with a broken finger and Avaani Hayer who was recovering from her school tournament, things didn't look like they were going to go our way but the girls really pulled together and what a fantastic performance they gave over the four games.The1-0 win against our biggest rivals Sutton Coldfield, really set the tone, and Gracie Mae Ecclestone’s calm finish into the corner was worthy of winning any game. The girls followed this up with a closely fought 1-0 win against South Staffs, with Skye Hines coming up with the finishing touch, and this set us up nicely for a crucial match against North Shropshire. The girls worked tirelessly to gain a well deserved 2-0 win, with goals from Elia Jackson and Millie Barnfield taking the girls to the top of the league and surely with maximum points, our final game of the night against a Walsall side, yet to pick up a point, shouldn't be a problem. Lo and behold we found ourselves 1-0 down with 30 seconds to go and it needed Millie to follow up and tap in the equaliser but overall it was a great evening all round. A special mention to Gracie, Skye and Elia for putting on the goalkeeping gloves, and keeping them warm for Bella’s return, and if we can keep up this togetherness and great work rate for the rest of the season the future looks bright. Roll on Part 2!
