Girls U11 Tournament at Four Dwellings

Team: Phoebe, Xienna, Faith, Evie, Eesha, Lexi, Kacee, Jess, Imogen, Amirah, Freya, Aaliyah, Georgia

We were invited to Four Dwellings in Birmingham for the first inter-district competition of the season. There were 8 teams invited, including us and it would be a fantastic evening of girls’ district football.

We played 6 games – a brief summary is included below.

Kings Norton A 0-0

Wolves girls dominated the opening exchanges and had a couple of early changes before Kings Norton came back into the game. Both teams defended very well and Phoebe made a couple of good saves to keep the score 0-0 in the first game. A positive start.

Erdington and Saltley 1-0

Erdington and Saltley were next and they possessed very pacey players. We defended very well, especially Xienna on the left hand side. We took the lead when a break forward allowed Freya to find Amirah, who made no mistake to score our first goal of the day.

Kings Norton B 3-0

A truly dominant performance in this game right from the kick off. Wolverhampton had a couple of chances, including Kacee hitting the post. Lexi scored our first, followed by a powerful shot from Kacee and then Aaliyah made it three, after a good pass from GG. None less than we deserved.

Harborne 2-0

Another great performance. A long throw from Xienna meant that the ball bounced over the defenders and Amirah finished on the half volley. A great goal. A long kick from Phoebe, Jess beat two Harborne defenders and slotted it into the bottom corner. Lexi scored right on the final whistle but it didn’t count as it had already gone. This proved vital at the end.

North Shropshire B 0-0

A tough game against a very physical North Shropshire side. Lexi had another good couple of chances but couldn’t quite convert, including a 1v1, when she was unlucky to shoot wide. The N.Shropshire goalkeeper made some excellent saves.

North Shropshire A 0-0

A free kick came close to breaking the deadlock for Wolverhampton. Faith and Evie defended very well and some telling passes from Imogen nearly broke the deadlock for Wolverhampton.

A fantastic festival meant, even though we didn’t concede a goal, we came second due to Kings Norton A scoring 1 more goal than us. Very proud of all the girls who enjoyed their first tournament in Wolverhampton colours.
