Despite losing to Leeds over half term there were certainly signs in that match that we were making progress and the lads came into this National Cup tie determined to upset the form book.
On current form ,and considering our disappointing start to the season, Sutton Coldfield were overwhelming favourites but we attacked from the kick off and were good value for our 2-0 lead at the break. Kaiden was proving to be a real handful for the oppostion defenders and his two goals were the least that his superb all round performance deserved. The match was far from over, however, and we knew that Sutton were far too good a team to lie down and let us cruise to victory and they stormed back in the second half to tie the game at 2-2. At that point the initiative was truly with our opponents but we fought back and went ahead once again with a fine finish from Zach and it looked as though this could be our day after all until our opponents came up with yet another equaliser. At the end of the day 3-3 was probably a fair result as both sides had contributed to an excellent game but it was heartbreaking that the Wolverhampton boys had come so close to what would have been a remarkable victory. Neverthless, if this was a normal game both teams could have walked away happy but it wasn't. Cup games have to be decided on the day and Sutton won 3-1 on penalties to earn a trip to Dacorum in the next round.
