The first game of the morning against East Birmingham was a closely contested affair with both sides showing good intent and energy but our opponents gradually gained the upper hand despite Wolverhampton beginning brightly and Jaxxon's powerfully hit shot just failing to trouble the keeper. The first goal was always going to be crucial and once East Birmingham had gone in front with a determined attack and fine finish they were able to dictate proceedings and more chances came their way as they exerted greater control. Our lads continued to compete of course but our opponents second goal was to prove decisive. Stefan did his best to keep the ball out of his net, by somehow getting a hand to it, and in the closing stages we were indebted to him on numerous occasions for keeping the scoreline respectable. Jaxxon remained our main attacking threat, despite operating in central midfield, but this wasn't our day , and despite pushing forward in search of a goal late on, Wolverhampton simply couldn’t find that elusive breakthrough.A disappointing result but there were still positives and the team should be commended on their effort, commitment, and willingness to keep playing until the final whistle.

Wolverhampton produced a much-improved display in a competitive and entertaining game against North Shropshire, however, and Jett went close early on, only to see his close-range effort well saved by the opposition keeper. Despite their positive start the lads found themselves chasing the game once again when North Shropshire took the lead with their first real chance of the match but this time they came back fighting and their perseverance was rewarded. Our reliable goal scorer, Alessandro, levelled the game with a composed, clinical finish and from that point onwards Wolverhampton should really have gone on to win the match.Alessandro fired narrowly over, and Dilroop shot just wide, as two excellent opportunities went begging but somehow North Shropshire held on and the match finished tied at 1-1. The league format required a winner, however, and North Shropshire eventually edged the shootout by a 2-1 margin. Alessandro confidently dispatched our first spot kick, but the opposing goalkeeper made key saves from our other attempts and despite Stefan producing a fine save of his own, we fell just short.Again the result was hard to take but this was yet another encouraging performance full of effort and resilience, and there were moments of real promise. Certainly something to build on in future games.
Squad: George, Stefan, Jaxxon, Dilroop, Alessandro, Rocco, Jett, Austin
