April 6th 2024. U13 Girls set France alight on Day One.

With four wins from our four games the girls could hardly have made a better start to The Mediterranean Cup for Girls which is taking place at The Stade Municipal de Capestang, Avenue de Nissan in Capestang. We opened with a 4-0 win over Entente Orleix/Elpy and Tilly, who had an excellent game, opened the scoring. Harmani then went close but made no mistake when put through by Faith for the second. Lexi then shot wide, but defender Surannah had to produce some inspired form at the back before Dhemi volleyed home Tilly's corner to make the game safe. The scoring was completed when Harmani comverted another of Tilly's pin point passes. The next match against FC Septemes Consolat was a very frustrating ill tempered game

but the girls kept their heads and deservedly edged the contest with another Harmani effort despite the disruptive tactics of the opposition and their coaches.

Wolverhampton had the advantage of an early goal, again scored by Harmani, against Northbank FC 1970 but our performance was a little disjointed and the scores would have been level had it not been for a great save by Kornelia in the Wolverhampton goal. Indeed it took until the last kick of the match for Faith to break free and double our advantage with a determined finish. Our final game of the day against ESA Linas-Montlhery was extremely physical and again not without controversy. The French side were very competitive to say the least and some of the tackles were so late that they could have injured the Wolverhampton girls . Indeed we lost count of the number of free kicks that Wolverhampton were awarded as a result of dubious challenges and It was so impressive the way that the Wolverhampton girls stood up to the challenges and we eventually beat them 3-0 with Tilly, Faith and Dhemi all on target as our pace and quality came to the fore. Wolverhampton now top the six team group and tomorrow the girls face the only other unbeaten team in the group, Quay Celtic from Dundalk, Ireland. The semi finals and final are also scheduled for tomorrow.

Squad: Kornelia, Esme, Surannah, Erin, Tilly, Faith, Harmani, Dhemi, Lexi, Caitlin, Xienna, Suvannah, Remi.
