April 13th 2024. Last gasp win for the U11 Boys' team.

The game started slowly but the first chance fell to Claudiu following a long clearance from our goal keeper Armandas but his effort come back off the post. Rory showed his usual drive and determination to create further chances and he had a shot from distance well saved before Aston took the lead, somewhat against the run of play, following a quick break. This only served to spur our lads on, however, and we drew level soon afterwards when Claudiu lifted the ball over the head of the advancing keeper. There was no further scoring before the break although we came closest to breaking the deadlock when Theo, who was having an excellent game in the centre of the Wolverhampton defence, sent Joel through on goal only to see his effort go wide of the post.

Aston had the best of the scoring chances in the early stages of the second half and would have taken the lead earlier had it not been for Lucas who announced his arrival between the posts with some excellent saves but the pressure eventually told and our opponents grabbed a 2-1 lead. Wolverhampton kept going as the game entered its final stages and just when it looked as though it wasn't going to be our day we drew level with a fantastic individual goal. Theo winning the ball on the halfway line, before striking a left foot rocket into the net to make the score 2-2 before the Aston keeper could even move. Surely that was it but with the final whistle about to blow, Rory made a great run down the right ,got to the byline and somehow came up with a tremendous low cross which allowed Evan to apply a super finish. An excellent 3-2 result, in an entertaining game, in which every one of our 14 players played a significant part. We have Burton Shield fixtures against North Shropshire and South Birmingham still to come in the next two weeks and with the character and quality we have shown this weekend, Wolverhampton could hopefully end the season by winning a Trophy.

Squad: Armandas, Theo, Tailon, Nico, Evan, Aarav, Joel, Kai, Claudiu, Rory, Lucas, Kingston, Kaizer, Charlie.
