March 1st 2025. A great morning for the u10 Boys.

A top versus second clash in the Birmingham league which promised to have a great bearing on who would eventually clinch the second division title. With so much at stake it would have been understandable if both teams were very wary of each other but the Wolverhampton lads made the early running and went on to control the first half. Our under 10's played some really nice football at times with Albaji, Lucas and Corban in particuar creating some great opportunities as Sutton Coldfield struggled to contain us. Indeed our midfield was so dominant that our opponents were pinned back in their own half for long periods but despite being technically and physically outfought they somehow managed to go into half time with the game still goalless. Sutton's only outlet had been their tricky right winger but Ollie dealt with him brilliantly and the danger was nullified.

Our lads continued to exert pressure after the break and threw caution to the wind by maintaining a high line, confident in the belief that fortune favours the brave. How could we not be confident? Lucas was being a constant menace, due to his great ability to win the ball back, and he was proving a great foil to Thai who was causing havoc on the left by making full use of his tremendous pace. Lucas was so unlucky to see a great shot come back off the post but it was Albaji who was to eventually break the deadlock with a lovely curled finish which bounced under the keeper before hitting the back of the net. A one goal lead is never enough, however, and the lads bravery in continuing to push forward was rewarded when Albaji struck shortly afterwards to give us some breathing space. Two excellent goals but we must not forget this was a super team performance and we must mention Ollie's amazing goal line clearance which prevented a certain goal in the second half from one of Sutton's rare opportunities and Charlie’s darting run which took him past no less than FIVE Sutton players in the dying minutes. Yes, excellent performances all round to almost seal the title with one game to play before we embark on a series of tournaments.
